The CMS XC team competed in the conference championship meet on Monday 9/29 at Greensburg. Many runners had their best performance of the season, with several personal best times being posted. The girls had a great evening, finishing 5th of 8 teams. They were led by an all-conference 10th place finish by Caroline Roberts in 13:40 and Cree Slater 20th (14:44). Jaycee Reeve had a personal best 17:39 in 43rd, Jaylynn Parsons 45th (17:50), Riley Smith 46th (17:58), and Kyra Branstetter was 52nd (24:58). The boys had a stellar evening, finishing 2nd overall, with many personal best times. The big three of Masyn Welter, Leo Moyer and Desmond Shipman earned all-conference honors. Welter turned in the most impressive run of the race, finishing number one with a personal best time of 10:15!! Welter repeated as conference champion. Moyer placed 3rd with personal best of 10:30, Shipman was 4th (10:59). Graham Pflum was 22nd (12:21 PB), Noah Rees 28th (12:42 PB), Alexander Streuwing 36th (13:29), and Hunter Gregory 44th (14:01) rounded out the varsity scoring. Connor Evans placed 10th in the reserve race with a PB of 14:17, Landon Bales (14:20 PB), Boyd Durstine 15:32), and Nathais Rude ran a PB of 17:44, eclipsing his best by over 2 minutes to cap off a great evening for the Spartans! The team will compete in the Union County Invitational on Wednesday 10/1.
