The CMS Boys soccer team faced off with Greendale Middle School for a double header Monday night. The Red Team started things off with a big win in a revenge game 2-1 after dropping two games to the Tigers last season. The Spartans controlled possession for the majority of the first half, and captain Cooper DeBoard got the boys on the scoreboard with a gorgeous header off a Spencer Sailor corner. That was DeBoard's sixth goal of the season, and Sailor recorded his team leading eighth assist on the campaign. Greendale evened the game up at the stroke of halftime on a miscommunication in the Spartan's defensive third of the pitch. After the break, the CMS Red Team was able to continue to apply some serious pressure on the Tiger's back line. After several opportunities failed to open the game up for Conenrsville, captain Caeser Orr broke the deadlock to put his team up for good. Orr took possession of the ball at the top of the eighteen, broke down the defense of three Tiger's players, and slotted home a fantastic finish for his seventh goal of the season. The Red Team's record stands at 3-4 on the year. The White Team featured in the second game of the night. After going down early to start the game, the Spartans were able to even things up before the halftime break. Jaxon Myers got the better of the Tiger's goalkeeper off a nice pass from Waylon Hamilton. Myers has been a serious threat for both the Red and White teams all season. Greendale took back control of the game in the second half with another quick goal to start the period. As the game started to run out of sunlight, Myers returned the favor to Hamilton. Jaxon went on a nice run to beat two Greendale defenders, and he sent a hard pass across the middle to Hamilton. Waylon was able to put the right amount of power on a chip shot to keep it in just under the crossbar. The game was called due to light immediately after the tying goal, and the game ended at a score of 2-2. The White Team's record is 3-1-2 up to this point in the season. The Spartans will be back in action Thursday as the White Team travels to Morristown to do battle with the Yellowjackets at 5:30pm.
