Connersville Middle School Red and White boys soccer teams hosted a game South Dearborn squad for a double header Monday night. Both teams fought through physical battles and came out victorious 2-0 in each game. The White Team got the evening started off with Connersville and South Dearborn taking turns controlling possession in the opening half. Robby House netted his third goal of the season at the stroke of half time, and Jaxon Myers provided the assist on the play. In the second half, the Spartans doubled their lead over the Knights to put the game away. Spencer Sailor sent a beautiful corner over the defense, and Bentely Rowe headed it into the goal in stunning fashion. The Red Team game followed in what turned out to be a gritty effort. The game went into the halftime break all square at 0-0 thanks to the heroics of goalkeeper Adam Jones. He made multiple saves including a one on one effort with South Dearborn's striker. The Spartans rallied at halftime and came out strong to start the final period. Cooper DeBoard scored a goal in the opening minute of the half off a pass from Hank Nickel. DeBoard and Nickel linked up again to put the Spartans in a position to finish off the match. DeBoard's double took his tally to five goals on the season. "The kids got beat up in both games but never gave in under the pressure. The way both teams came out in the second halves and took control of the matches made for a great night. We still have plenty to work on, but for now we can enjoy taking two wins in front of our home fans." stated coach Mitch Richardson. The CMS Boys Red Team will be back in action Wednesday evening, as they host Shelbyville at the Connersville Soccer Complex. The action will kick off immediately after the conclusion of the CMS Girls game against the Golden Bears, with their game starting at 5:30pm.
