Thursday night the CMS Boys Soccer team hosted a talented Greenfield Central squad. The Spartans hung tough in a physical game against a big Cougars defensive unit. Connersville lost the game 3-1 but the feelings around the game were all positive. Greenfield jumped on top early 1-0, but the Spartans fought back. Caeser Orr notched his sixth goal of the season off of an assist from Jaxon Myers. Orr, even though much smaller than the tall back line of the Cougars, took the attack to the opposition the entire match. Hunter Robinson and Cooper DeBoard continued to play tough like they have all season. The defense of Brayden Bunch, Rylan Lakes, Hank Nickel, and Branson Duncan lead the stoppers for Connersville. Adam Jones played another fantastic game in the goal while under pressure throughout. “Us coaches were proud of this group tonight. The Cougars are a fantastic team who played physical. Even though several of our kids are playing through some pain here and there, they never backed down from a challenge during the game. We have several seventh graders who stepped up and played solid games tonight,” Coach Richardson said. The Spartans will be back in action Tuesday evening when they travel to Pendleton for a 7pm kickoff.
