The CMS Cross Country team hosted Richmond and Waldron on Tuesday 9/15. The teams had to navigate the difficult, hilly course on a hot and humid evening. The girls, running as a complete team, had a good outing. They defeated Waldron, but fell to a strong Richmond squad. Cree Slater led the way in 5th (15:55), followed by Essmae Brewer 6th (16:05) and Riley Smith 8th (16:21). Leanna Paul finished18th (20:12) and Melanie Jolley was 20th (21:21) to round out the scoring. The girls are now 2-6 on the season. The boys continued their winning ways, handily defeating both visiting teams. Leo Moyer led the Spartan parade in first place in 11:24, with team mate Desmond Shipman close behind in second with a time of 11:50. Clay Glover placed 4th (13:08), Noah Frost 6th (13 :52), Landon Bales 7th (14:06), Boyd Durstine 10th (14:47), Hunter Gregory 11th (14:52), as the Spartans took 7 of the top 11 places! Andrew Biehl 22nd (19:04), Ryan Owens 23rd (21:04) and Leighton Hauk 25th (29:36) completed the stellar team performance. The boys now stand at 6-2 on the season. The team returns to the hilly home course on Thursday 9/17, hosting New Castle and Centerville at 5:30.
