The Connersville High School boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Union County Invitational on Tuesday, with the Spartan boys earning a second-place team finish. Freshman Masyn Welter led the boys in the 5000 meter run, placing 7th out of 33 runners with a time of 19:46.34. Senior Hunter Bales followed with a strong performance, finishing 13th overall in 21:08.39. Freshman Alexander Struewing placed 19th with a time of 23:55.77. Chandler Redd crossed the finish line in 25:10.94, followed by Colton Hammons in 25:57.69. Connor Evans rounded out the Spartan lineup with a strong finish of 28:09.14. On the girls side, freshman Caroline Roberts led the Spartans with an 8th-place finish in the 5K, crossing the line in 26:07.80. Martina Planas placed 16th with a time of 28:43.63, and Adriana Marcum finished 19th in 32:45.60. The Spartans will be back in action this Saturday at the South Dearborn Invitational.
