Connersville

The Connersville High School cross country teams competed Saturday at the Rushville Invitational in a 5000m race. There were 177 runners in the boys division and 113 runners in the girls division. Leading the way for the Spartans was Masyn Welter, who finished 27th overall in the boys’ field and recorded the top finish for Connersville. Welter crossed the finish line with an impressive time of 18:47.55. Hunter Bales also turned in a solid performance, finishing 66th overall with a time of 20:25.53. Alexander Struewing completed the course in 22:49.74, and Connor Evans finished with a time of 28:12.87. The Connersville girls also had a strong showing at the invitational. Caroline Roberts led the Spartans with a time of 25:08.32, while Martina Planas finished her race in 27:59.88. The Spartans are scheduled to compete Saturday at the East Central Invitational.
