The JV Boys soccer team played in their first home match of the season but came up short against visiting East Central. The Trojans scored twice within 4 minute period to take a 2-0 halftime lead. The Spartans came out of the gate slowly and struggled the 15 minutes of the game. They rebounded for the final 25 minutes and went toe to toe with the Trojans the remainder of the 1st half. Lachlan Martin had a breakaway to cut the deficit in half but the official called an offsides on a player on the opposite side of the field, preventing the Spartans from scoring. The host came out the 2nd half the way they ended the 1st and played incredible soccer. Shortly in the second half, Jaxson Wright made a long powerful run, dribbling past multiple defenders and found the back of the net to cut the Trojan lead to 2-1 with a lot of time remaining. The Spartans would continue to play at a high level and challenged the visitors but two late deadball goals proved too much to overcome. Strong play by Martin, Wright, Bronson Lykins and Hunter Robinson helped with the Spartan attack on the evening. The JV will have a long break and will be in action on Saturday, September 5th as the host South Dearborn with game set to start a 10:30.
