The CMS Cross Country team competed in the Greensburg Invitational. This is the largest meet of the season, with 23 teams and elite runners from Eastern and Central Indiana. The boys team had an outstanding early season performance, finishing in 6th place! They were led by Leo Moyer in an exciting 2nd place finish out of 185 runners, passing a competitor at the line to post a sterling time of 10:50. Desmond Shipman placed 12th (11:41) with a great run. 7th grader, Clay Glover, showing unlimited potential, was 47th (12:48). The other varsity finishers were: Noah Frost 61st (13:00) Landon Bales 100th (14:03) Boyd Durstine 117th (14:34) Hunter Gregory 119 (14:37) In the reserve race Ryan Qwens was a standout, finishing in 26th (14:58) and Leighton Hauk 85th (20:42) The girls were without a complete squad, but turned in improved times. Cree Slater led the team in 72nd of 163 participants in 15:22. Essmae Brewer was 84th (15:43), a 2 minute improvement. Riley Smith placed 109th (17:13) and Leanna Paul was 136th breaking the 20 minute barrier with a time of 19:59. In a packed week the team goes to St. Mary's of Greensburg to challenge the host school.
