Varsity Baseball Defeats Franklin County

April 16, 2026 vs. Franklin County Connersville Varsity Spartans were triumphant over Franklin County 9-4 on Thursday. Franklin County were the first to get on the board in the first when Stephenson doubled, scoring one run. Connersville Varsity Spartans took the lead in the top of the second inning after Franklin County committed an error, Grizzell grounded into a fielder's choice, and Flanigan grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. Stephenson grounded out, which helped Franklin County tie the game at three in the bottom of the third. An error gave Connersville Varsity Spartans the lead, 5-3, in the top of the fourth. Ellis earned the win for Connersville Varsity Spartans. The starter allowed five hits and four runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking three. Weaver took the loss for Franklin County. The starter went five and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out two and walking two. Bentley collected the save. Connersville Varsity Spartans accumulated 10 hits in the game. Brannon drove the middle of the lineup, leading Connersville Varsity Spartans with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. McMullen, Connersville Varsity Spartans's number nine hitter, led the team with three hits in three at-bats. Flanigan and Bentley each collected multiple hits for Connersville Varsity Spartans. Flanigan stole two bases. Stephenson drove the middle of the lineup, leading Franklin County with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Franklin County turned one double play in the game. Connersville Varsity Spartans will travel to Lawrence Central Varsity Bears for their next game on Friday.
