Connersville Varsity Spartans were the first to get on the board in the first when Bentley was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Connersville Varsity Spartans added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Bentley singled, and Brannon walked, each scoring one run. Connersville Varsity Spartans scored two runs in the top of the fifth on a home run by Shearer. Brannon hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth for the Connersville Varsity Spartans. McMullen earned the win for Connersville Varsity Spartans. The starter gave up seven hits and two runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out three and walking two. Grizzell threw one inning of no-run ball for Connersville Varsity Spartans in relief. The reliever allowed zero hits, striking out none and walking one. Connersville Varsity Spartans collected nine hits in the game. McMullen, Connersville Varsity Spartans's number nine hitter, led the team with three hits in four at-bats.
