The CMS 8th Grade baseball team put together a strong all-around performance Wednesday night, shutting out Jac-Cen-Del 10–0 in five innings. The Spartans set the tone early behind a dominant outing from Brody Baker. He threw four innings of no-hit, scoreless baseball, striking out 11 and keeping the Eagles off balance all game long. Koleson Gable came in to finish things off in the fifth, adding another strikeout to complete the shutout. At the plate, Connersville stayed patient and took advantage of their chances, finishing with six hits and seven walks. The offense kept things moving throughout the game and found ways to bring runners home. Masyn Welter and Brayden Bell each scored twice to lead the way. Brody Baker, Braylon Davis, Noah Richards, Jayden Bauer, Raylan Runyon, and Hank Nickel also crossed the plate in the win, showing a great team effort offensively. Hits on the night came from Brayden Bell, Brody Baker (two hits), Damien Owens (double), Koleson Gable, and Noah Richards. The 8th Grade Spartans will be back at home on Tuesday, April 21, when they take on Knightstown at 5:30 p.m.
