Connersville Varsity Spartans Come Up Short Against Batesville April 9, 2026 vs. Batesville Connersville Varsity Spartans lost to Batesville 8-4 on Thursday. Connersville Varsity Spartans were the first to get on the board in the second when Brannon singled, scoring one run. Batesville flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead, 5-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Blessing that drove in two. Brannon homered to center field, scoring two runs in the top of the sixth for the Connersville Varsity Spartans. Meyer earned the win for Batesville. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking none. McMullen took the loss for Connersville Varsity Spartans. The starting pitcher went three and one-third innings, surrendering eight runs (seven earned) on six hits, striking out one and walking four. Brannon led Connersville Varsity Spartans with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Patterson stole three bases. Connersville Varsity Spartans ran wild on the base paths, amassing four stolen bases for the game. Connersville Varsity Spartans turned one double play in the game. Connersville Varsity Spartans didn't commit a single error in the field. Shearer had the most chances in the field with four. Meyer, Peetz, Weigel, Dudley, Post, Huber, and Blessing each collected one hit for Batesville. Dudley, Post, and Blessing each drove in two runs for Batesville. Batesville had a strong eye at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Dudley, Post, and Blessing led the team with two free passes each. Next up for Connersville Varsity Spartans is a game at home versus Yorktown on Saturday.
