The Spartans traveled to Liberty on Thursday evening to take on the Patriots and lost a close match 169-170. We didn't play our best team golf this evening. We let our heads get into our game and that's something we can't let happen. It is early in the season and we will grow and learn from this. I know the boys were disappointed but they need to understand we can't let bad holes turn into bad rounds. We will move forward and figure some things out Aiden Gibbs and Talon Sherwood lead the way for the Spartans each coming in with a 40. Trey Hughes (44) was third and Logan Young and a career best from Levi Marzalek rounded the Spartan scoring with a 46. In an unofficial JV match, the Spartans defeated the Patriots 153-168. Rylan Keen led the way with a 48. Wyatt Bohlander shot a career best 52 and in his first high school match, Peyton Tomiln came in with a 53. Also competing for the Spartans were Grady Simpkins (55) and Eli Smith (59). Spartans have a week off and play their first conference match of the year next Friday when they travel to Greenburg to take on the Pirates.
