Lady Spartans were back in action playing their 3rd game in 3 nights against South Dearborn. Defense was the name of the game last night, but the ending was meant for ESPN’s top ten list. After the first quarter South Dearborn was up 2-1. The second quarter both teams just added 1 basket and South Dearborn continued to lead into halftime 4-3. Second half were along the same lines as the first until the real action began. With South Dearborn up by the score of 10-7 and only 10 seconds left, Lady Spartans rush down the court and with a pass thrown to Kyra Branstetter, she puts up a shot from 3 as the buzzer sounds and hits the shot to take us to overtime. The crowd and team went crazy with excitement. The Lady Spartans then outscore the Lady Knights 3-2, taking the victory with a final score of 13-12. Leading the way in scoring was Kastin Van Meter with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks, followed by Kyra Branstetter with 3 points, 2 steals, Melanie Killion, Elli Bentley and Ella Hammons with 1 point apiece. Lady Spartans are back in action Monday March 2nd on the road against Cambridge City Lincoln. A reminder that the last game at home will be a RED OUT game, Thursday March 5th versus Greendale Middle.
