The 7th grade white boys basketball team was back in action on Monday night to face the Shelbyville Golden Bears at home. The Spartans ended up losing to a really solid Shelbyville team with a final score of 30-47. The short-handed Spartans in a lot of ways kept up with Shelbyville, but the offensive rebounds that went Shelbyville’s way was a big factor in the Connersville loss. Despite that the Spartans brought offensive and defensive intensity; attacking the basket, being aggressive on both ends of the floor, and playing competitive basketball. I am super proud of how my guys played, the scoreboard doesn’t do them justice how I saw them compete against Shelbyville. We were missing two key players today, yet my guys executed on both ends of the floor, and everyone on the team stepped up big time. I told them at halftime (trailing 14-30) and even after the game that we played and competed so much better today than yesterday, it's just that sometimes you can play your absolute best and sometimes still won't get the outcome we want. All of my players did great things on the court and I am really proud of them. Leading the Spartans in scoring was Kash Cotten with 9 points, Brody Gough with 6 points, and the rest of the scoring was evenly distributed throughout the roster. The Spartans are now 2-7 on the season. They will be back in action on Thursday January 15th on the road to take on the Muncie Southside Panthers in Muncie, Indiana.
