The 7th grade white boys basketball team was back in action on Monday night to face the Talawanda Brave (Oxford, OH) at home. The Spartans ended up losing to the Brave with a final score of 22-43. The Spartans got off to a slow start on both ends of the floor, not being able to get shots to fall offensively and not being able to get rebounds offensively or defensively. Talawanda had some players that could really get this going for their team, the Brave took a 10-29 lead at halftime and never looked back. Connersville made some improvements in the second half, but unfortunately it was not enough to secure a win. I told my guys that It’s a tough pill to swallow when you lose by 20 points at your home court, but we cannot beat ourselves up about it. All we can do is learn and grow from this game, which I believe the Talawanda loss will help us prepare for a solid Shelbyville team tomorrow. Leading the Spartans in scoring this game was Kai Smiley with 7 points. Waylon Hamilton had 6 points, and the rest of the scoring was evenly distributed throughout the roster. The Spartans are now 2-6 on the season. They will be back in action on Tuesday January 13th for another home game matchup as they welcome the Shelbyville Golden Bears to the Spartan Arena.
