The 7th Red boys basketball team hosted an undefeated Greendale Tigers team Monday night and came away with a fantastic win, 41-32. The first quarter was a battle as the game went back and forth until the last second of the period when Harper Buckles knocked down a buzzer-beater from deep to take a slim 10-9 lead. The Tigers bounced back in the second and continued their aggressive play to take a 19-18 lead into the break. The Spartans took over the game in the third period though as they took a 31-23 lead into the final period. I told the boys the first few minutes of the second half would likely decide who would win the game and they responded with effort and toughness to grab a good lead. The Tigers clawed their way back into the game though as they cut the Connersville lead to three late. I was proud of how our boys kept their composure when Greendale made a run and then went on a run of their own to secure the win. This was another big win for the boys this year and I couldn't be happier for them. Leading the way for Connersville was Desmond Shipman with 15 points followed by Bryson Walker with 10. Leo Moyer went 8-for-9 from the line including 6-for-6 in the fourth quarter to help secure the victory. Koltyn Kafka gave some great minutes adding 5 points with Buckles chipping in 3. Anthony Becker, Kohl Britton and Waylon Bunch also contributed to the win. Connersville is now 14-3 and travels to South Dearborn Tuesday.
