The 7th grade white boys basketball team was back in action on Tuesday night to take on the St. Marys Knights in Greensburg. The Spartans ended up losing in a close battle with a final score of 49-47. Connersville and St. Marys traded buckets for the entire game with a lot of lead changes, Connersville was only down 27-25 at halftime. In the fourth quarter St. Marys extended their lead to 13 early, but the Spartans fought back with a scoring run of their own to cut the deficit to two. With 16 seconds left in regulation the Spartans got possession but unfortunately could not get a bucket in the final moments of the game. Despite the loss, the boys never gave up. I am super proud of the effort, composure, and constantly playing hard until the end. Leading scorer for Connersville was Brody Gough with 20 points, Alec Lakes with 10 points, and the rest of the scoring evenly contributed throughout the roster. The Spartans are now 1-4 on the season and will welcome Seton Catholic to the Spartan Arena on Wednesday January 7th.
