The 7th Red Boys basketball team were in their first action of the new year as they traveled to Jennings County Monday night and lost, 50-24. Connersville battled in the first half as they only found themselves down 12-9 at the end of the first quarter and 22-16 at the half. Even though we didn't play exceptionally well in the first half we were still in the game and had a chance to compete the rest of the way. Unfortunately though, the Panthers came out even stronger in the second half as they clawed and fought their way to a commanding lead. Connersville totalled twenty-five turnovers on the night which ultimately led to the lopsided outcome. We really needed to match the intensity of Jennings County tonight and we just didn't give the same effort as they did. We have to do a much better job of taking care of the ball as well. The Panthers ended the third period up 35-22 and continued to pull away until the final buzzer. Connersville seemed to run out of gas in the final period, only shooting 1-of-9 from the field. Leading the way for the Spartans was Noah Frost and Leo Moyer with 9 points each. Koltyn Kafka, Desmond Shipman and Bryson Walker each added a bucket as well. The Spartans are now 13-3 on the year and host Eastern Hancock Tuesday.
