The 7th grade white boys basketball team were back in action on Thursday night as they played their first home game of the season to take on the Greenfield Central Cougars. The Spartans fell to the visiting Cougars in a hard fought matchup with a score of 28-41. The Spartans kept the game close for most of the night, ending the first half 15-15 and ending the third quarter only trailing 20-21. Throughout the fourth quarter Greenfield Central went on a scoring spree while Connersville could not get their own shots to fall. Despite the loss, the boys fought hard until the very end, and I am proud of them for keeping their composure while playing through a tough fourth quarter. There are parts of our offense and defense we have to get better at, but the improvement throughout the season so far is undeniable. Leading the way for Connersville in scoring was Kai Smiley with 12 points, and the rest of the scoring on offense was a balanced effort across the entire roster. The Spartans are now 1-3 on the season and will travel to Greensburg on January 6th to play St. Mary’s School.
