The 7th Red boys basketball team hosted the Greensburg Pirates Monday night and came away with a 40-11 victory. The Spartans came out fast and picked up a quick 10-0 lead after the end of the first quarter. It was great to see the boys lock in early and pull away from the beginning. We've been focusing on getting a good start lately and I was glad to see it materialize. Connersville kept the pressure on as they continued to grow the lead to finish the half, 24-2. The boys gave awesome effort in pressuring the ball tonight and the intensity really affected the Pirates. Harper Buckles also hit a buzzer beater from deep just before the second quarter horn to ignite the bench and the crowd! The Spartans never looked back after that and cruised to a 36-5 lead after three periods. Connersville once again outscored Greensburg in the final period 8-6. Leading the way for the Spartans was Harper Buckles with 11 points followed closely by Desmond Shipman with 10. Kohl Britton chipped in 6 with Koltyn Kafka and Leo Moyer each adding 4. Bryson Walker and Noah Frost each had a bucket while Anthony Becker added a free throw. Kash Cotton and Alec Lakes also gave valuable minutes. Connersville is now 7-0 to start the year and host Batesville December 1st at Spartan Arena.
