Connersville

The 7th Red boys basketball team welcomed the Union County Patriots to Spartan Arena for their first home game of the season Thursday night and came away with a 34-8 victory. Both teams started out slowly as the Spartans took a slim 4-2 lead after one quarter of play. Connersville took the lid off of the basket the rest of the game as they pulled away each quarter after that. Tough defense allowed the Spartans to take a 13-4 lead at the half and they continued to frustrate the Patriots only allowing them two points each period. The boys had some decent opportunities early but just couldn't finish. Once they settled in on the offensive side of the ball, they were able to pull away down the stretch. Everybody did a great job defensively especially after we started to block out and rebound better. Connersville scored their most points of the night in the third period to take a 25-6 lead into the final period. Leading the way for Connersville was Bryson Walker with 10 points followed by Desmond Shipman with 8. Leo Moyer and Harper Buckles each added 5 apiece with Kash Cotten, Kohl Britton and Anthony Becker all contributing a bucket. The Spartans are now 6-0 on the year and host Greensburg Monday at Spartan Arena.
