Connersville

The 7th Red boys basketball team traveled to New Castle Tuesday night and picked up a gritty win, 39-32. The Trojans jumped out quick on the Spartans and grabbed a 13-6 lead after the first period. We just turned the ball over way too much in the beginning of the game and we weren't doing well pulling down rebounds either. Connersville closed the gap a bit in the second quarter though out-scoring New Castle 7-3. Defensively the boys did a much better job in the middle half of the game and limiting our own turnovers played a part in that as well. The third period was pretty even overall as Connersville edged the Trojans 6-5 to give New Castle a 21-19 lead heading into the final period. In the final quarter, the Spartans went on a big run as they outscored the Trojans 20-11. The boys did a great job chipping away at the early deficit and finished strong to seal the deal in the end. Leading the way for Connersville was Leo Moyer with 12 points and 8 rebounds followed closely by Desmond Shipman and Bryson Walker with 10 points each. Noah Frost rounded out the scoring as he chipped in 7 points as well.
