Connersville

The CMS 8th grade white basketball team kicked off their season last night, defeating St. Micheals 36-27 in a hard-fought matchup. The Spartans got off to a quick start jumping out to a 15-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. The 2nd quarter both teams struggled scoring as the Spartans won the quarter 2-1 to take a 17-6 lead into the half. At the end of the 3rd quarter the Spartans held an 18-point lead, but in the 4th quarter St. Michaels fought back and cut the lead to 7 with a couple minutes left in the game. Connersville kept battling and was able to escape with the 9 point win. Leading scorer for the night was Brayden Bell with 9 points. Holland Moore, Mason Jones, and Alexander Struewing had 6 points each. Xavier Cooley had 5 and Colten Schonfeld finished with 4 points. 7th/8th grade white teams will play their next game on December 2 when they host Seton Catholic at the Arena. 7th grade will start at 6pm.
